We'll need to clear cap space to keep both on the active roster, right?
Does Mikheyev get traded? Does someone else go on LTIR? - PatC80
Hmm, Mikheyev requested a trade so it makes sense to trade Mikheyev. TBH at this point it's probably a middle pick at most, with his injury history and lack of play time.

Doubt he’s even worth a mid round pick atm… if the leafs moved him right away they’ll get nothing more than a future considerations deal like they made to get Clifford.
My guess is once him and Mrazek are back the leafs will send Clifford, Anderson, Woll, and Liljegren down. Show Mikheyev off for half a dozen games and move him when he becomes worth something again. Then bring back Liljegren and Clifford.

Are you talking about a pump and dump? Wedgie will be pleased.

I also don't see Dubas as the type of guy to drag on a deal to try to extract the maximum at Mikey's play time expense. He'll give him a home where he'll get minutes for a token return.

I don't know.. I feel like Liljegren getting sent down to make space for Mikheyev will hurt more than help..
With this teams forward group, not sure who comes out of the lineup

I don't see how Liljegren going down to make room for Mikey is still a thing. Leafs have proven they want Liljegren up, to the point Holl/Dermott are in the rumour mill to be traded.

That’s what I mean… a short stint and moved is my guess. That’s enough for the leafs to afford both a 13th forward and a 7th d man. Keeping him means no more than 13 forwards and 6 d man due to the cap.
Hence the need to show him off a bit… because teams will be hesitant to take on 1.65 million as a cap hit for a guy who’s already proven his skill set dwindled massively after a significant injury.
So give him 3-6 games… and happily take a 4th or 5th rounder (or even 6th, 7th if he doesn’t look very good and someone still offers it) if the team takes his entire salary.
